Resumen
The accelerated population growth, also associated with growing development expectations, constitutes an enormous pressure on the use of natural resources. The human settlements are located in areas near the Magdalena River. For the study area, information from Landsat images of the years 1986, 1990, 2000 and 2016 was used, which was downloaded from the USGS portal; The software arcGIS version 10.3 is used to process and analyze information spatially. The information of the population (DANE) and the geological map (IGAC). The objective of the research is to determine the fluvial dynamics of the Magdalena River in the temporal space dimension at km 640 in the municipalities of La Dorada and Puerto Salgar in the years 1984-1991-2001-2014, to identify the geomorphological characteristics of the area of Study. In the period between 2000 and 2016 the Magdalena River variation shows a large sedimentation in the convex margin of the El Conejo Meander in the area at 179.72 m from the Bucamba neighborhood, which generated a reduction of 3.4% in the area from the river.
