Resumen
Vegetation is one of the indicators that is most important in the development and growth of the ecosystem, the deterioration of this layer is produced by the use given to anthropic activities and development of municipalities. We worked with the normalized vegetation difference index known as the NDVI by means of satellite images for the years from 1970 to 2017, which were processed using the IDRISI information tool, which performs atmospheric correction and then the NDVI index was processed in the ARGIS program, which was used to know and evaluate the vegetation changes that have been occurring in the eastern area of the department of Tolima. In the study realized that in the municipality of Roncesvalles has been decreasing its vegetation closed in the course of time. In the year 2017 has decreased more than 48% compared to that obtained in the year 1977, thus presenting in an area of 1977 of 206679 hectares and 2017 hectares 108768, this change is due to the growth population where it is evident the change of land use.
