Resumen
The presence of plastic on the planet has reached quantities with which humans are already unable to cope, it is said that America, Japan and the European Union are the largest producers of plastic waste per capita and only 9 percent of the 9.000 million tons of plastic produced in the world has been recycled (Zúñiga, 2019). In its latest environmental report, the United Nations (UN) revealed some figures worldwide, showing that 300 million tons of plastic waste are produced annually. and it is estimated that about 13 million tons of plastic are poured into the oceans, affecting biodiversity, the economy and people's health (Zúñiga, 2019). The global crisis of plastic pollution will continue to worsen unless all people become more aware of the real cost they represent to nature and people (NationalGeographic, 2019), for this reason the need for action to intervene in the reduction of this problem arises. This research proposes to carry out a study on the different alternatives of bioplastics based on agricultural components, for the replacement of petroleum-based plastics in the food industry, especially bags and packaging.
