The following classroom experience was based on an inquiry exercise that aimed to observe behaviors displayed by children (dependent variable) before separation with their caregiver and in the presence of a stranger (independent variable). This exercise was developed within the framework of the theory of natural selection proposed by Charles Darwin, the theory of attachment that has John Bow The theory of attachment within developmental psychology has been especially influenced by the British naturalist Charles Darwin, who in his theory of the Origin of species states that only those individuals who tend to be in society and care for their conspecifics are more likely to adapt to the environment and, therefore, manage to survive (Gutiérrez, 2009).
