Resumen
The mass removal in watersheds is presented by the interaction of geological, topographic, climatic and anthropogenic activities, this phenomenon triggers avalanches, floods and landslides causing impacts to the surrounding area such as the collapse of roads, destruction of infrastructure, destruction of crops and loss of life. For the study of the Panelas and Balsas basin it was necessary to determine the morphometry to know the parameters that characterize it and using statistical grouping methods, a risk classification was carried out, before identifying the unstable areas a field visit was made in order to verify the level of risk and choosing the most critical point where there was access to perform the analysis, the state of the slope was studied the necessary measures were taken for the design of a mitigation work based on bioengineering. The objective of this research is to identify the unstable zones of the Panelas y Balsas watershed, as well as to define a viable bioengineering technique that generates the solution to the problem of mass removal and determine a budget for the execution of the project. Basin data were determined that led to the identification of high-risk areas that allowed the evaluation of a successful methodology to determine the solution the problem of mass removal using a low-cost alternative and without affecting the natural environment, gabions are implemented with Kikuyo grass planting in the coordinates 18 N 478875.47 m E 492467.59 m N Areas affected by the ravine.
