Resumen
This project aims to evaluate assess the degree of a low-plasticity silt soil using circular inclusions of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers in order to improve the mechanical properties of the soil under analysis. In this way, through time in the civil engineering, its advances in the improvement of the soil have helped to make the structures more stable from their foundations, in the same way in the construction of roads and in the stabilization of slopes. For this reason, in this project it was decided to use polyethylene terephthalate fibers with a geometric shape in circles, with a diameter of 6 mm, handling percentages of PET in the ground of 0.3%, 0.5%, 0.8%, 1% and 1.2%. Having said the above and understanding that this material constitutes a large part of the waste produced daily because it is a material that can be found in many commonly used products, it has led to work worldwide to improve environmental conditions, for Therefore, the use of plastic waste to reinforce the soil and improve its mechanical and physical properties contributes to the environment and to the research of new materials for soil improvement. This project consists of three phases: a first phase deals with the characterization of the soil, where the respective laboratory tests were carried out and the characterization of the Polyethylene Terephthalate was continued, a second phase where the samples were already made of the material with PET inclusions.
