Resumen
The relief of the hilly Cay, mountainous for the most part, favors the occurrence of mass removal processes, a condition that has been manifested due to changes in coverage and land use. In the city of Ibagué there are water problems due to the fact that the tributaries have turbidity and since the Cay falls partly from the water resource to the population, it has forced the supply system to guarantee the continuous service due to the exponential increase in the inhabitants. The methodology consisted in a description of the zones affected by instability in the basin, identifying the morphometric parameters of the microbasin using the SIG tools through the ArcGIS 10.3 software, areas of threats were identified; designing a risk classification locating sectors that may be prone to removal, based on terrain characteristics; Following this, field visits corroborated the presumed zones and in the case of removal, a bioengineering model was designed using soil tools with the Slide Rocscience program. To develop the research, the general objective was to design bioengineering works in the risk areas of the Cay Creek, as specific objectives were identified the areas of mass removal and the bioengineering technique was defined according to the morphometric characteristics of the Cay basin. As a result, a slope was identified that has a road in its crown; sector that is prone to removal, which is proposed to be intervened with a green gabion, complying as a methodology of bioengineering, which was made the corresponding checks of quantitative verification of improvement.
