This project aims to explain the conception of Regional Development (RD) contained in The University of Ibagué official documents (Institutional Educative Project, 2014-2018 Institutional Development Plan and the Entrepreneurship General Statutes). The purpose of this is to identify the University's inout to its mission as Educational Institution "Committed with the Regional Development" through information tracking using content analysis as methodological tool. We will take into account three language levels which, will help to construct the results we are aiming to find. The first level is the superficial level, where we carried a description of the information. The second level is analytical. This level allowed us to classify, order and to carry out a categories construction. The final level, the interpretative level in which, we carried the comprehension and the sense construction of the issue to solve. In the investigative process and after carrying the difference stages of the project, we can conclude that the University based on the official documents, does not have a clear conception of Regional Development really is. This slogan appears in its mission and it is taken as a compromise but there is not evidence of a common language for official use. We based our investigation in previous knowledge, presenting that is of vital importance for the University to have a clear conception of what Regional Development is, which, will enable the institution to provide an integral education that contributes to the region and fulfills its missional objective.
