The present investigation responds to the interest in knowing the Scheduling´s decisions in the metalworking Job Shops. Scheduling is one of the main functions within an organization, which deals fully, in optimizing the production process. As is to be expected, these decisions are made following several relevant criteria of the workshop such as the type of production system and the design of the same. These decisions are taken at the different hierarchical levels of the business, responding to the needs of their management and oriented to the objectives of the company. The first chapter constitutes the theoretical framework of research, terminology, productive configurations, the most common Scheduling problems and the regular solution techniques found in the literature. In addition to this, relevant considerations are presented at the time of decision making. In the second chapter, it is possible to exemplify reference cases of Scheduling in manufacturing companies together with the activities developed by these organizations to achieve such success in their processes. In the last chapter of the assistance, reference is made to the production management model in the metal-mechanic sector, with emphasis on the department of Tolima. In this section, we describe the technological level of the companies in the sector, the most common problems in the implementation of Scheduling to their processes and the construction of production policies. Additionally, a metal-mechanic company from Ibagué is referenced, which provides information of interest to the investigation.
