By means of the present research work, we intend to develop an analysis of the mechanical properties of concrete modified with volcanic ash from Cerro Machín, unlike the characteristics of a conventional concrete, in order to observe and demonstrate both the advantages and the disadvantages of this material. Faced with some important aspects in the construction market such as compression resistance, concrete quality and reaction to elements such as steel. For this purpose, tests will be carried out specified in the (NTC), Colombian Technical Standards, which specifically handle the processes of production and quality control of concrete as it is the NTC 77 Concretes; in addition to using some of the tests for the classification of both fine and coarse aggregates in INVE 2013 - section 200, Testing standards for road materials. It is expected that at the end of the investigation, the information obtained can be used by civil engineering professionals and also by those of related careers, in order that concretes of this type are used in the wide field of construction.
