Resumen
To understand how a structure will interact and respond to different events during its useful life, it is necessary to study especially the geological or natural aspects that may affect it, such as: close or distant location of geological faults and the depth at which are located, the location of the land with respect to water sources that can produce floods or high water tables, and the amplification of the accelerations of the land with respect to acceleration in rock. The building that will be studied is located at the University of Ibagué. This city is located in an area of intermediate seismic threat. A clear expression of what these threats constitute is reflected in the landscape of the so-called Ibagué fan in which the glacial and volcanic activity of the Central Cordillera is evidente. The objective of this work is to offer the widest possible panorama in relation to the conception, design, construction and fundamental analysis problems in reinforcement actions on this structure. To do this, as a preliminary matter, some basic definitions and concepts of the problem are established, and the current state of the building is analyzed in general terms. Although the nature of the work does not allow for an in-depth study of some of the issues addressed, an approximation is always made to them, while basic bibliographic references are offered for a more detailed study of the subject.
