Resumen
Education is a complex phenomenon that involves two individuals, the teacher and the student, who collaborate for the same purpose: the integral development of the student. In order for the educational function to take place and develop, it is necessary for the two subjects to meet and for an affective relationship to be established between them that builds solid foundations for the integral formation of students. It is for this reason that the present theoretical revision has as its purpose, to make known how the state of the art is found between the teacher-student bond and the academic performance in secondary education. For this purpose, the revision of both empirical and theoretical articles from different databases such as: Redalyc, Scielo, Dialnet, Psycinfo, Science, Direct, Ebscohost, among others, was carried out. Finding that it is a subject little studied within this educational level, as well as the correlation of different authors who indicate that the affective bond is very important within this academic cycle, due to the fact that in a teacher-student relationship where basic principles such as respect, trust and acceptance are propitiated, a warm, empathic relationship will be developed and an assertive communication that will allow the approach to knowledge, also highlights the need for this bond within the current Colombian educational context and the changes necessary to understand in depth the need for this relationship.
