The present work called Inventory Management Model in the supermarket "El Autoservicio Valparaíso" arises due to the alarms figures revealed by confecamaras which show that only 30% of new companies manage to last more than 5 years, due to the control dangerous or non-existent inventories. For this reason, the need arises to support inventory management at the Autoservicio Valparaíso supermarket with the projection that it can serve as a reference model for other small companies that recognize the importance of good inventory management and control. Thus, the main objective of this project was to design an inventory management model in order to optimize their management and control. For which, firstly, the conceptual bases of an inventory management model are identified, followed by a diagnosis of the current inventory control situation, to continue with a categorization of products using the A, B, C classification tool. All of the above, determine the policies and controls for inventory management. It was concluded that the designed inventory management model achieves a reduction in total inventory costs of 22.3%.
