- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEvaluación del comportamiento de un asfalto modificado con Policloruro de Vinilo (PVC) y Grano de Caucho Reciclado (GCR)(Universidad de Ibagué., 2020) Lozano Castellano, Isabel Cristina; Reyes Tafur, Carlos Alberto; Salazar Susunaga, María PaulaRegarding the increasing volume of vehicular traffic and climatic variability, the technical behavior of conventional asphalt, used as a road surface, has been identified as an object of improvement, research and innovation. In recent years, asphalt modification technology has become an alternative to improve the mechanical behavior of asphalt mixtures that counteract the effects of the different environmental and loading conditions to which they are subjected. The objective of this research is to evaluate the influence on the physical and rheological properties of an asphalt cement CA 60-70, compared to the latter, modified by wet process with Vinyl Polychloride (PVC) and Recycled Rubber Grain (GCR) . The base CA is modified in different proportions of volume: one with only 12% of GCR, and another four combined with 12% of GCR and 0.5, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.5% of PVC, respectively. Stiffness and thermal susceptibility are assessed by penetration, softening point, penetration index and rotational viscosity tests, while adhesion with stripping and "plate" tests. The results show that the addition of PVC and GCR, produce a more rigid CA and with less thermal susceptibility to flow, although more viscous than the CA with only GCR. Therefore, better behavior of the modified mixture with PVC and GCR can be predicted in warm weather conditions
