- PublicaciónSólo datosApropiación social del conocimiento y bien común: una propuesta para evaluar el impacto de la educación superior(Ediciones Unibagué, 2020-12-18) Torrente Rocha, Juan José; Manzano Arrondo, Vicente; Rodríguez Morilla, María del CarmenEvaluation is a determining process of quality in higher education institutions. However, identifying the impact that the university has on the extended community is still a more difficult challenge to overcome. The aim of this research is to design an impact evaluation of a higher education program in the region, based on indicators of social appropriation of knowledge and common good. A qualitative methodology is used from the creation and adaptation of descriptive indicators that provide a contextual and interpretative framework of the results. At the end, a reliable and groundbreaking proposal is obtained, which does not intend a homogenizing application of indicators, but rather an emancipatory exercise of recognition for continuous improvement.
- PublicaciónSólo datosConstitucionalización de los derechos a la igualdad en la interpretación principialista del derecho a la educación como factor de cambio social. Concepto jurisprudencial, vulneración y reparación. Estudio del amparo contra normas 1308 de 2014(Ediciones unibagué, 2018-12-19) Ríos Gamiño, Francisco Alfonso; Leal Espinoza, José LuisThe present investigation has as objective to leave reflected the form to interpret constitutional dispositions in Mexico; through the study of the case framed in the Amparo trial 1308/2014, of the first court of District in Saltillo, Coahuila; Mexico. Its transcendence lies in the hermeneutical harmonization of tax criteria in which a violation of the principle of equality is observed, manifesting its interpretative effects pro persona in the guarantee criteria of the judgments of the Constitutional Courts. The judicial constitutionalization of the principles that nurture the right to education is addressed. The hypothesis that arises lies in the relevance in which a public university that by law has been given autonomy, should or should not pay local direct taxes; especially if the institution of higher education should provide educational services to improve the social environment, upholding the principles that guide Article 3 of the Constitution of the United Mexican States.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoThe current crisis of higher education and the necessary university project (nup): a case study in evolutionary systems design(2023-02-09) López-Garay, Hernán; González López, José JairHigher Education is at an epochal turning point. And so are universities, which have been, for centuries, the core of higher education. In this article, we will argue that the university we need most for “surfing” this epochal crisis is one able to develop organic structures to cope with the dynamic and evolving systemic challenges that the crisis poses to higher education and, at large, humanity. Accordingly, in the following, we will present a case study in evolutionary systems design at the University of Ibagué. We will describe how, beginning with a project seed of a Necessary University, this project has evolved over the last ten years into an organic structure better fit to cope with the dynamics of the crisis. Moreover, this evolutionary approach to systems design allows the university board to have a more systemic comprehension of the crisis and better management of some of the current epochal challenges to Higher Education
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEfectos de la educación superior atribuibles al programa de Ingeniería industrial de la universidad de Ibagué sobre el aprendizaje estudiantil(Universidad de Ibagué, 2018) Marulanda Fraume, Natalia; Meisel Donoso, Carlos AntonioHigher education is one of the key items society must ensure a good development of the country and future generations, and to face the technological and scientific changes that occur globally. This makes it necessary to analyze in Colombia the value the students acquire by the training provided by the Institutions of Higher Education and analyze what is still necessary to work on. This research work is developed in the search to identify the impact of the training received in the Academic Program of Industrial Engineering of the University of Ibagué, in the development of the competences evaluated in the Saber Pro Tests of its students. The analysis of this impact was made in the interest of knowing the weaknesses and potentialities in the subjects of the curriculum and the academic activities proposed by the University and developed by the students in their university life. On the other hand, improvements are proposed in the academic process of the Program in order to obtain better results in the State tests and in this way to deliver professionals with skills and knowledge according to what the dynamic labor world requires in the country.

- PublicaciónSólo datosExploring the Role of a Colombian University to Promote Just Transitions. An Analysis from the Human Development and the Regional Transition Pathways to Sustainability(Sustainability, 2021-05-26) Velasco, Diana; Boni, Alejandra; Delgado, Carlos; Rojas Forero, Geisler DayaniUniversities are central organisations that can act as promoters and amplifiers of regional just transitions. In this paper, we analyse how a Colombian regional university, the University of Ibagué (UI), is playing this role through two initiatives: (1) a governance experiment piloted between 2018 and 2019 that constructed an aspirational vision for this university through the definition of eight human capabilities; (2) a formal curriculum regional programme named Peace and Region (P&R) established in 2010 as a service-learning strategy for undergraduates in their final year. To analyse the contribution of these two initiatives towards a just transition, we built a specific analytical framework based on the human development and capability approach and Regional Transition Pathways to Sustainability (RTPS). Exploring both the content and the process of building the list and perceptions of the different actors involved in the P&R programme, we found that both initiatives have a strong directionality that resonates with the normative ambition of a just transition. Moreover, in both processes, people involved have expanded human capabilities, and co-produced holistic and transdisciplinary knowledge through the interaction of academic and non-academic actors. From an RTPS perspective, the programme captures regional complexity and moulds micro-dynamics to socially fair and sustainable paths.

- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoManual para el proceso de autoevaluación con fines de renovación de acreditación de alta calidad Institucional de la Universidad de Ibagué(Universidad de Ibagué, 2021) Sarta Andrade, Nathaly; Zabala Cifuentes, FabiánThe objective of this research is to design a practical manual for the process of renewal of high quality accreditation at the institutional level of the University of Ibague, in order to strengthen the quality of higher education and make public recognition of the achievement of high levels of quality; that contribute to the social, economic and cultural progress of the region. The methodology that is carried out in this proposal is carried out through the following phases: research approach, a qualitative-quantitative mixed methodology, the type of descriptive, explanatory, analysis and purposeful research. The data collection instruments are from primary and secondary sources, which is why a prior awareness procedure is required on the importance of the self-assessment process for high-quality institutional accreditation purposes, aimed at the academic and administrative community. On the other hand, documented and online information must be available for the appropriation of statutes, regulations, university news and the progress of the improvement plans that have been carried out.

- PublicaciónSólo datosTeacher-Researcher Training in Higher Education: a Systems Thinking Approach(Systemic Practice and Action Research, 2020-05-22) Astaíza-Martínez, Andrés Felipe; Mazorco-Salas, Julio Eduardo; Castillo-Bohórquez, María IsabelThere is a current consensus on teacher training as a key element to promote the quality of higher education. Despite that, a lot of teacher preparation programs are short-term training efforts enmeshed in a politically endorsed ‘social market’ perspective that emphasized instructional skill training and adaptation to the existing curricular organization. In this context, training processes based on an innovative alternative vision framed in a dynamic learning system were context plays a determining role are crucial. This article presents a formative experience of teacher-researchers in the university context, theoretically oriented from systems thinking and characterized by a holistic approach based on contextual learning. The research was designed using Grounded Theory with a biographical-narrative approach. Participant observation, sociodemographic questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews were used as data collection instruments. The results show a formative process in which the pedagogical practice is the training core, and highlight the strengths of systems thinking to favor the co-construction of a teacher identity that integrates biographies and personal interests of teachers, as well as the configuration of teacher training processes oriented to collaborative learning. Additionally, it was found that the process shows strengths in several relevant aspects in teacher education such as reflective teaching as a rejection of top-down forms of educational programs, the importance of reflective thinking and reflective feeling and the importance of collaborative learning to contribute to the solution of contextual problems.
- PublicaciónSólo datosThe capabilities approach and variety engineering. A case for social cocreation of value(AI and Society, 2022-01-21) Reyes Alvarado, AlfonsoThe purpose of this paper is to show an application of variety engineering in the social realm (Beer in The heart of enterprise. Wiley, Chichester, 1979, in Brain of the firm. Wiley, Chichester 1981, in diagnosing the system for organizations. Wiley, Chichester, 1985). It focuses on reducing environmental complexity by catalysing self-organizing processes (Espejo and Reyes in Organizational systems: managing complexity with the VSM. Springer, London, 2011). This catalysis is based on the use of Sen and Nussbaum’s capabilities approach (Sen in Development as freedom. Oxford University Press, New York, 1999; Nusbaum in Women and human development: the capabilities approach. Cambridge University Press, New York, 2000). By doing this an organization may improve the quality of the relations with their clients by transforming environmental agents into new suppliers. This approach opens a new dimension of social responsibility for organizations. A particular case is presented in which a regional university in Colombia faces the challenge of attending low-income students coming from small municipalities. They designed a strategy to offer low-cost housing and a daily balanced meal without using the university's own resources. Instead, they managed to involve some agents of the community by developing their capabilities. This kind of variety engineering shows the possibility of new forms of social responsibility in universities by incorporating the capabilities approach into their managerial practices. This is something that is currently under study in other universities (Boni et al. in Science and engineering ethics. Springer, London, 2015).
