The objective of this study was to identify the risk factors for the presence of violence in dating relationships, so that it may negatively affect the personal life sphere of each one of the members of the same. instruments as a sociodemographic questionnaire, Questionnaire dating violence CUVINO, Self-Esteem Scale Rosemberg, Scale Auto overal Baessler and Schwarzer, Inventory Violence in dating relationships among adolescents (CADRI) and checklist of experiences was used of abuse in the couple form A. The sample was formed by 21 young couples between 18 and 25 years old from three universities in the city of the city of Ibagué of different careers that had a relationship of courtship. The results indicate that 61.9% of the participants are between 18 and 21 years old, on the other hand, in terms of risk factors, it was identified that people from lower socio-economic strata are more likely to engage in violent behavior. have suffered or witnessed violent behavior in childhood or dating relationships greater than one year, it denotes a significant correlation between the experience of situations of violence in childhood and violence suffered, finally in terms of the personal sphere of life it was evidenced that people with low self-esteem or who have been victims of violence in childhood are prone to be victims of violence, in the same way an inversely proportional correlation between self-esteem and verbally committed violence is denoted.
