In this research work we want to investigate the cogeneration of electric energy from the Rankine cycle in the Hacienda La Guaira to convert a problem into an opportunity. Given the efficiency that can be generated and the amount of rice husk generated in the La Guaira Rice Mill (244 kg/h according to monthly average values per year 2018) energy will be generated from saturated steam by moving the blades of a steam turbine that can generate up to 574.62 KW.h of work in the turbine or electric power generated, with easy-to-operate equipment and technologies available at an accessible price. The variables that are involved in the selection of biomass as fuel for this project will be listed, where the rice husk enters with a humidity percentage of 10%, generating ash from 18 to 20%, also mentioning the byproducts that are obtained of this process, the types of fuel and all this with an emphasis on the husk with the help of the main literature available with the subject in relation. This cogeneration of energy in addition to meeting the energy demand of the mill will serve as an example for the Tolima region, continuing with the search for alternatives that mitigate the generation of greenhouse gases and help control climate change that is affecting the world.
